Dessert at Adventureland’s Tahitian Terrace, 1967 - flambe’ sundaes for all!
It was this week in January, 1975 when Space Mountain first opened at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park. The ride would become one of the park’s most iconic attractions, and would quickly be introduced to Disneyland as well in 1977.
Take a look at photos from the construction of the first Space Mountain, as well as the ride’s opening, at which astronauts Scott Carpenter (Mercury 7), Gordon Cooper (Mercury 9 and Gemini 5), and Jim Irwin (Apollo 15) were all in attendance.
